If you are not on the first page, that means you have missed out on the one-third of the potential traffic.
What’s even crazier is that 75% of people don’t even click on the second page of search results.
So it is essential that you need to be on the first page to achieve your end goal. To do that you need to optimize your website to get the maximum traffic.
That’s why I have listed out the 5 Guaranteed Ways to Optimize Your Website for Search Engine
1) Focus on content marketing
“Content marketing is SEO” and “SEO is content marketing”.
Why so? because SEO is no longer about targeting your homepage for the best industry keyword.
it’s all about cranking out high-quality content that solves reader’s problems.
The objective of both content marketing and SEO strategy is to bring in new inbound traffic.
You need to make sure to post tons of SEO friendly content on a regular basis. This will help your website show up on more searches.

But keep in mind to focus on keywords. When I say keywords, mainly focus on long tail keywords that will help you optimize your website for search engine.
I know keyword research consumes a lot of time, however, it’s worth investing that much time.
My favorite and the best way to get the right keywords is to put in the main keyword in Google search, it will give you a list of long tail keywords for free that you can focus on.
Google wants people to find their answer faster than any other search engine out there. If you put in a keyword in google search it will give you millions of results in less than a second.
Google wants you to find contents faster than Bing or Yahoo. This is why Google dominates the search engine market share.
Their primary objective is to provide a great user experience.
2) Build backlinks by reaching out to influencers
Backlinks are one of the greatest factors in driving traffic from organic search.
According to the latest data from Backlinko, the more backlinks you get from high authority sites will result in a better position in googles search results.
Let me tell you this is one of my favorite way that I found to rank better in google.
One thing that most of the marketers fail to do is they forget to build links from high authority sites.
Google always takes into account the trust and authority of a linking site. So a random site won’t get you the link juice you need.
So the question is how do you build backlinks. I will explain to you the simple method.
“Mention influencers in your posts”
Basically what it means is write a success story of an influencer in your posts. Then you should reach out to them and let them know that you have mentioned their success story in your post.
By doing this one simple method guess what the influencer will do? They will link back to it multiple times.
Why will influencer do this? simply because it’s a great article, adds credibility to them and they can mention it anywhere appropriate.
Trust me, this strategy works.
3) Optimize title tag and meta description
You need to optimize your title tag and meta description to rank better in search engines.
A title tag is an HTML element that specifies the title of a web page.
Optimizing your title tag can help search engines understand what your page is about.
A good title tag will determine if someone wants to click on your website or not.
Here’s an example.
So how to write a perfect title tag?
- Keep your title length short and precise. Even though the exact limit is a bit more complex, I recommend using 60 characters long.
- Do not repeat SEO keywords or stuff with many keywords as this could hurt user experience.
- Use important keywords first and always keep customers on your mind to improve the click-through rate from your visitors.
The meta description is the short paragraph of text placed in the HTML of a webpage that describes its content. It will appear under your pages URL.
Even though meta description is not as important as title tag when it comes to getting clicks from someone because they don’t pay much attention to it, however it is important from an SEO ranking perspective.
Here’s an example.
So let’s look at how write a good meta description.
- Keep the meta description length between 140-160 characters long. Any longer than this search engine will make sure to cut the rest.
- Make sure to use the most important keyword at first so that when someone searches a keyword search engines can highlight the keyword in bold.
- Avoid duplicating meta description. Every page should have a unique meta description so that Google doesn’t penalize you for using the same description.
4) Optimize your site for mobile device
If you haven’t optimized your website for the mobile device, you’ve lost the major space in the internet world.
You heard me right!
You should primarily focus on improving your web page in mobile devices because the usage of mobile users has been overtaken by computers and laptops.
The recent study shows over 60% of Google searches come from mobile devices.
So how to make your your site mobile optimised?
Put your website URL and click on Test URL. It should give all the suggested results.
Either make the changes by yourself or you can hire someone to do the job.
Another option is to use a WordPress plugin, set it up once and it should do the job for you.
5) Fix broken links to optimize your website for search engine
Broken links are the links that direct visitors to a web page no longer exists or it shows a 404 error on that page.
Some of the common reason why links don’t work are as follows,
- The website no longer available hence it triggers a 404 message.
- The website URL is changed
- The web page was moved without a redirect being added.
A broken link can not only hurt your SEO ranking, but it also gives a bad user experience too when someone lands on an invalid page.
Before we look at how to fix broken links, let’s see how to find out if there are broken links in your website.
Go to Dead Link Checker and put your website URL or any page URL.
It will show all the errors on your page/website. You can even automate this by signing up with them.
Anytime a link goes dead, you’ll be contacted right away so you can replace it.
A bonus tip: A smart way to get a few backlinks that will help your SEO rankings boost is to check the broken links of high authority sites.
If you find any dead links, notify the website owner and ask them to replace that dead links with your website links.
By doing this one favor, they’ll most likely willing to do a favor back.
This will get more traffic to your website and help improve your SEO ranking too.
